01Overview

Most accounting systems are set up by people who will never close a month in them. The chart of accounts is copied from a template, the item list is imported as-is, and six months later nobody can produce a margin report by product line.

The principal has led a NetSuite implementation for a national wholesaler and then closed the books in it every month afterward. That experience shapes how we set systems up: for the reports you will need in year three, not just the invoices you need on day one.

02What it covers
  1. 01

    Needs assessment and selection

What the business needs to report, which system does that at your size, and what it will cost to run, before anything is bought.

  2. 02

    Chart of accounts design

Accounts, departments, locations and classes designed around the reports management and the lender will ask for.

  3. 03

    Data migration

Opening balances, customers, vendors, items and open transactions moved across and reconciled to the old system.

  4. 04

    Configuration

NetSuite or QuickBooks Online configured for your workflows: approvals, recurring billing, inventory, multi-currency, multi-entity.

  5. 05

    Training and documentation

Written procedures for the people who will use the system daily, and hands-on training before go-live.

  6. 06

    Post-go-live support

The first two closes run together, so the problems that only appear at month-end are found and fixed.

03What you receive

Deliverables, named in the engagement letter.

Scope, deadlines and fee are agreed in writing before work begins. What follows is what that letter typically lists for this service.

  • A configured, reconciled system on the agreed go-live date
  • Chart of accounts and procedures documentation
  • Two supported month-end closes after go-live

Tell us where the books stand. We will tell you what it takes.

Describe the situation and you will get a straight answer about what the work involves, what it costs, and how soon it can begin. Nothing is billed until an engagement letter is signed by both sides.
